Dr. Laura Gonzalez, Counseling and Educational Development, will share observations from facilitating a 6-week college access curriculum with Spanish speaking parents in a nearby school district. Changes in the parents’ perspectives were striking, but the experience also shifted the viewpoint of the hosting school staff members. Implications for cross-cultural and bilingual outreach, for working with immigrant families on educational topics, and for promoting college access for Latino youth.
